Black Jack for Beginners

Have you ever wondered if there was another card game out there instead of poker? Ever wondered what would be an ideal card game that's easy to play and you don't have to compete against the other players? Well, there is actually a game for you and that is, black jack.

Black Jack is one of the most popular card games. It is a great way to pass the time when you have nothing else to do. It is also easy to get started as it only needs a minimum of two players and can go as many as eight players. Black Jack is quick and easy to learn especially for beginners.

There are two types of black jack. There is black jack with a permanent bank and the other is with a changing bank. Black jack with a permanent bank is where there is only one dealer. This is usually played in casinos. The second type is with a changing bank. This is most common in homes wherein the players take turns in being the dealer of the game.

For an instant win in black jack, your initial two cards will add up to a total of 21. If you don't get a 21, your goal with additional cards is to have as close to 21 and hoping that your cards' total is higher than the dealer's. If your cards go over 21, then it is called a bust and you lose that hand.

You are probably wondering now how to get a 21 in a game of black jack. In black jack the value of aces are either 1 or 11. Face cards that is, king, queen, and jack are worth ten each. The other cards are their numerical value. For example, a ten is a ten. Fours are worth four etc. Any combination of these cards to a sum of 21 or nearest to 21 is safe for a player.

The dealer distributes the cards to the players. Each player gets one card face down but the dealer's first card is dealt face up. Players can look at their cards anytime during the game. The dealer has to wait for all the players to take their turn before he can look at his face down card.

If on the first turn, your two cards are an ace and a ten, you have got a natural or black jack. You automatically win against the dealer unless he also has a natural so neither of you win. The dealer can only take a look at his face down card until all the players have been dealt their additional cards or have gone bust. Or if his face up card is an ace, a ten or a face card then he can take a look at his face down card to see if he has a black jack.

Black Jack is pretty simple once you get the flow going. All it takes is luck and good math skills. It's fun and easy to learn. Just don't get all gung-ho or else you might end up going bust all the time. Learn to stop asking for another card. Remember you don't always have to total 21 but near 21 is good enough. Start playing black jack and see how good you can get at it.
